”A bright year against a dark background”
Much of the world took on a dark edge in 2023, but for us at Ellevio there were still many bright spots. We can summarise a year with unprecedented results in several of our most important areas – security of supply, pace of investment and committed employees.
2023 in brief
Smart electricity meters for all customers, commissioning of Värtan substation, completion of successful sustainability project in Orsa and a new 12-kilometre electricity “highway” are some of the most important events in 2023.

Together with customers and partners, Ellevio is laying the foundation for the fossil-free society of the future by building tomorrow's energy systems and developing climate-smart energy services.
The road towards a sustainable society
Our electricity grids enable the transition to fossil-free energy, but we also want to set an example in how we conduct our own business. In 2023, we conducted, among other things, a new materiality analysis that fulfils the requirements of the new EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive.
Award-winning and popular employer
Being an attractive employer is an important success factor for Ellevio, and 2023 provided more evidence of success. Among other things, Ellevio was named Sweden's third most attractive employer and the internal Employee Engagement Index hit a record high.
How the electricity market works
Electricity networks are basic infrastructure in every modern society; they must be robust, modern and have sufficient capacity. They are operated on a regulated market with local monopolies. Why is that and how does the market work?
A partner in the energy transition
Our main task is to provide our nearly one million customers with an uninterrupted electricity supply and offer support with energy consumption and the transition. During 2023, both private and corporate customers have become increasingly satisfied.
Record-high investments are needed
To meet society’s needs, Ellevio is making extensive investments. In 2023, investments including acquisitions amounted to SEK 3,663 million and the pace of investment will increase further in the coming years. According to the Electricity Network Report 2023, SEK 945 billion must be invested in the Sweden’s electricity network over the next 20 years.
